Westall - What They Saw
Westall - What They Saw
This is a collage consisting of drawings superimposed over an image of a mysterious silver object which was seen by over 200 people, mainly students and teachers, from two schools in suburban Melbourne, Australia in 1966. The silver object is a 3D model is generated with mechanical engineering software, based on descriptions from those who saw the object at close range. The sketches were made by witnesses on pages torn from my sketchbook, and filmed by director James Fox for his feature film, “The Phenomenon”. The cloud backdrop is from my collection of sixties vintage ephemera - evoking the bright, sunny autumn morning when three objects were observed hovering over the school oval, then playing cat-and-mouse with five conventional light aircraft.
